It appears that when there is no existing connman state there is memory
corruption which causes free() on MIPS/PPC to abort.

When there is not d_type avalaible on filesystem, fstatat (stat)
can be used to check if the path is a directory.

Live image installer did not preserve BSP specified console= kernel parameter.
This patch updates the init scripts that are responsible for grub.cfg creation
so that options like console= are passed allong from installer to installed img

Both avahi and avahi-ui were installing locale files. This is pointless duplication
and they are identical between the two packages. This changes things so they're only
handled by the main package.

Both eglibc-locale and eglibc were installing locale files into the sysroot.
Whilst this is in general harmless, its a waste of diskspace/time so this
moves the responsibility to the eglibc-locale package.
No PR bump this this is really a cleanup and doesn't affect build output,
the sstate size reduction will happen next time it is rebuilt.

I found that some files were not getting removed from the sysroot, despite them
clearly being removed by the recipe. I found SYSROOT_DESTDIR is only ever copied
into, not cleaned. This patch ensures its empty when the task starts so that
stale files are removed and not persisted.

There is no point in having doc, manpage or info files in the staging directory. They
just bloat the sstate package size and waste time as they're copied around.
We never used to stage these but it crept in when we started staging $datadir. This
patch corrects that so they're removed and stop making it into the sysroot.

The bb and os modules are always imported so having these extra import calls
are a waste of space/execution time. They also set a bad example for people
copy and pasting code so clean them up.

nasm has a build dependency on groff-native
In one incident, there was a case where nasm-native compile phase failed
with the following:
+troff: can't find `DESC' file
+troff: fatal error: sorry, I can't continue
During this, groff-native was in the sysroot install phase.
To remedy this, adding groff-native in nasm's dependency list.

Many recipes are now having to define PERLPATH and PYTHONPATH variables.
Creating USRBINPATH in bitbake.conf means we can remove all these lines
from the many recipes now needing this and simplify the code changes
needed in each case, reducing the chance of errors being introduced.
Also fixup glib python binary location issue and fix function indentation.

qemu.inc: on older kernel build hosts that have < 2.6.20 which
doesn't support kvm yet, build will fail. Add a check in do_configure

When watchdog works on ping mode, the system will be rebooted since
watchdog can not receive the expected ECOREPLY on a setting interval.
Ping mode uses a raw socket to send a ECO packet, then uses select()
to wait and recvfrom() to receive the ECOREPLY packet, if select()
shows the data is ready, and the data is not the expected ECOREPLY,
and waiting time is not overdue, it will continue use select() and
recvfrom().
Problem is that the raw socket can receive any icmp packets, if we do
not set filters, and there are many icmp packets on socket, this
program will not find its interested ECOREPLY packet in a special
interval, which makes the ping mode fail.
Other program is that watchdog sometime can not reach the call of
recvfrom to try to receive packets since tv_sec of struct timeval
of select parameter is 0.
The timeout of select() is the result of ping interval minusing the
time of calling gettimeofday spending, when ping interval is 1 second,
and the call of gettimeofday() spends several useconds, the tv_sec of
struct timeval of select parameter must be 0, at that condition, we
should think it is valid of tv_sec of struct timeval of select parameter
be 0

Originally, git was something new, not installed everywhere and had commandline
stability problems. This has changed and git it no longer makes sense to
continually build this when the system installed version is likely sufficient.
This speeds up build since recipes no longer have to wait for git-native to build
if they're fetched from a git:// SRC_URI.
Also add git to the sanity checks and drop the no unneeded svn reference.

This workaround was originally for GNU Make 3.82 which upstream was blaming
for a parallel build failure. Since then I've changed numerous variables
and now parallel builds are working with 3.82 (and succeed in 20 minutes
instead of 2 hours).
Revert the change until we've more data about what causes the breakage, then
we can bring it back with more finesse.

We require git version 1.7.5 or later for the git remote --mirror=xxx syntax.
If we have an older version of git, this patch ensure we build git-replacement-native.
We add an alternative PROVIDES in the same way as tar-native to allow this script
to trigger the build whilst still allowing git-native in ASSUME_PROVIDED.

This patch fixed the issue that after "bitbake meta-ide-support" and try to start qemu and it will fail. This is due to the meta-ide-support lacking dependency for qemu native and ended up using qemu under /usr/bin. Fix the issue by adding dependency for qemu native in meta-ide-support and also add the path info in the environment-setup script.

The build system passes specific TUNE (fundamental) flag values to various
tools instead of using a shell wrapper or similar. It is important that the
build system and ADT/SDK match the behaviors exactly, or we are likely to
have differences in the way build-system and external components are built
leading to configuration, compilation and/or run-time problems.

The class adds a setscene dependency on base-passwd as well as adds this to DEPENDS.
The DEPENDS version will be auso-converted to include MLPREFIX whilst the setscene
dependency will not. This result in errors about non-existent tasks.
This patch ensures MLPREFIX is added when it is needed and fixes various
build failures. Whether we should have two base-passwd recipes in a multilib
system is a question which would need to be addressed by future changes.

Bring back earlier jpeg fix. upstream has removed the fix from earlier release.
The support for automatic de-ANSI-fication has been deprecated in
automake 1.11.2, and will be removed altogether in automake 1.12
This avoids this error:

This patch fixes building this tool in cross environment
It uses tools such as CC, HOST_CC, I386_CC etc.
and as long as you are building native it does not
matter since they all are same namely 'gcc' but
in cross compiling that wont work. So we make the
makefiles and configure scripts aware of that fact
Upstream hosts this program in a svn repo. So change
the SRC_URI to official svn repo. With git we were
checking out a lot more that just mkelfimage which
is not required.
There were unpackaged empty directories too so
we make sure they are removed as well.

This patch adds a fix where arm endianness is detected correctly
secondly it adds a missing dependency on libatomics-ops
which was found when build in clean tmpdir and populating
it from a valid sstate.

from gcc-4.7.inc
Use 4.7.1.0 for PV to maintain the upgrade path

gcc exposed this issue where cross gcc recipes were not having
same task checksums as libgcc or gcc-runtime the target recipes
which use same shared workdir and it was triggering the unpack
fetch and patch tasks to reexecute and hence the trouble
Now that we have more than 1 package to consider lets combine
the check

Default seems to be to enable GL accelaration so when
gl is not specified in PACKAGECONFIG then add the
--disable-gl-accel to really disable it.

1.49.0 is not buildable with eglibc 2.16 since
it exposes a define TIME_UTC which is also used
in boost until 1.50.0 when it was renamed to
TIME_UTC_ so instead of porting needed patches
we upgrade boost to latest release

I ran across this problem when apt 0.7.14 was not fetchable
from regular debian mirrors and existing snapshot mirror
did not have it either since we did not use proper syntax
so it was not hitting that.

lsof tries to compile a temp c source file and execute the binary to
determine linux C library type (file Configure, line 2689-2717).
It is inpracticable for cross-compilation and may have build issue on
some distros since it depends on host settings.
Fix below error when building for 64bit target on 64bit host:

If EXTRA_OECONF_FPU is left set, certain ARM variables related to hard-float
can get pulled in and trigger rebuilds of the crosssdk code. The best solution
is to simply force the variable to a known correct value for the SDK targets
currently supported in the same way as TARGET_FPU.
There is some slight rearrangement of the gcc code to ensure the variable is
always used to call the fpu function.

There was a bug showing up where the crosssdk recipes were being installed as machine
specific in the sstate-control directory. This turned out to be due to the architecture
fields used by sstate being set incorrectly. The problem is that the crosssdk inherits
the cross class. It therefore needs to be listed in this if statement block before
the cross check, not after.
This should resolve some package architecture issue of crosssdk sstate files.

Set SERIAL_CONSOLES if you want to define multiple serial consoles, also if
you need to check for the presence of the serial consoles you can also define
SERIAL_CONSOLES_CHECK to determine if these are present when you boot. This
will prevent error message that pop up when the serial port is not present.

The above lines in machine.conf or elsewhere will have the effect of having

Having XZ_COMPRESSION_LEVEL on -e -9 and -T 0 will make xz eat more
than 6Gb memory. Reduce this to -6 to make xz to use about 471Mb
on the tested machine.

Having -c modifier makes xz to output the compressed data to stdout. In this
way the needed data will be in the do_rootfs log.

We should not just replace CCFLAGS with CFLAGS while compiling, because
this may cause run-time errors with perl's DynaLoader.pm.
Tested on qemux86 with new libnet-libidn-perl bb recipe:

It turns out "apt-cache showpkg" does return some information when a
package does not exist but another package recommends it, which can
occur for empty *-dev packages; so use "apt-cache policy" with a
different line count instead.

In the usual case, the computed path used for debugedit to fix
up path references for the target filesystem is correct. However,
prebuilt binary components, such as prebuilt toolchains, can
have debug paths that do not reflect paths within the local
build directory. Providing an override lets us continue to use
the standard debugedit logic in package.bbclass.

Fix [YOCTO 2726]
C language has 3 distinct char types:
char
unsigned char
signed char
A char has the same range of values as signed char on X86,
but same as unsigned char on ARM which made Slang's typecast()
and array_sort() unable to work for char value on ARM, since
Slang is assuming "char" as "signed char".
Now we change "char" as "signed char" explicitly in
util/mkslarith2.sl, and use it to regenerate src/slarith2.inc

There are only a couple of helper utilities within gconf that need gtk+ as a
dependency and those are unused and pretty useless. We might as well drop
the dependency on gtk and allow more parallel builds by reducing dependency
bottlenecks.

Package install failures due to issues in post install rules.
package_do_shlibs only looks for libraries in a directory "lib", this should be
modified to the variable baselib.
ldconfig_postinst_fragment failure observed on systems without /sbin/ldconfig
[ -x /sbin/ldconfig ] && /sbin/ldconfig
results in the post install rule returning a failure. Modify to
if [ -x /sbin/ldconfig ]; then /sbin/ldconfig; fi

When HOST machine installed imlib2, compiling directfb in OE will
direct this library, and try to use it. This is wrong, since there is
no imlib in OE, so we should disable it explicitly here.

install-neon-lib needs libsvn_delta-1.la which will be regenerated
during libsvn_delta-1.la's installation, if libsvn_delta-1.la is
in regenerating and at the same time install-neon-lib links it, the
error willl happen.
The error message is:
/bin/ld: cannot find -lsvn_delta-1

This is a parallel issue, so it doesn't happen often.

The autoreconf doesn't generate build-outputs.mk, it would be generated
by autogen.sh (use build.conf as the input), but autogen.sh isn't
suitable for cross compiling, so both modified build-outputs.mk and
build.conf.

gnupg has it's own fake curl, since we use gnupg with zypper, there does not
seem to be a strong reason to add curl to the depends list.

Add a new feature named 'perf-tui'. Adding this into the
PERF_FEATURES variable in perf.inc will enable the perf TUI (Text-base
UI) user interface on a target, which adds libnewt and turns on the
perf text UI options in perf, if perf is included in an image.
If 'perf-tui' isn't named as a feature (the default), the perf TUI
will be disabled and unavailable.

Add a new feature named 'perf-scripting'. Adding this into the
PERF_FEATURES variable in perf.inc will enable perf scripting on a
target, which will turn on all the language bindings currently
available in perf (Perl and Python), if perf is included in an image.
If 'perf-scripting' isn't named as a feature (the default), all perf
language bindings will be disabled and unavailable.

OE-Core revision ffe93e2a099e4cadb1829dc12a58a6d7bef9a5a7 moved opkg's
configuration file into /etc/opkg, and opkg always reads all files under
this directory even if -f is specified (as it is during do_rootfs in
order to specify our own generated config file), and this means that
after opkg-collateral is installed into the rootfs, this version of the
config is used, resulting in opkg ignoring the list of packages it has
already downloaded (since it now sees list_dir as /var/lib/opkg instead
of the default /var/lib/opkg/lists) and thus it fails to install any of
the "attemptonly" packages (including *-dev, *-dbg, etc.).
If we change the -f option to ignore configuration files in /etc/opkg
then we no longer have this problem.

cmake looks at all include statements, even if they're not used. To make
builds deterministic and avoid needing to add binutils as a dependency
for libzypp, completely remove the include from the header file, even if
it is never used.
This avoids issues where you'd build binutils, then libzypp, then remove
binutils (and hence ansidecl.h) and then recompile libzypp which would
still have the dependency and hence fail.

Replace the usage of EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES in a small number of .bb
files with IMAGE_FEATURES, and leave the use of EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES
for developers in their local.conf files, to avoid the possibility of
undesirable side effects.

This project has been unmaintained for some time, and even the OpenMoko
project is not using it any more (in favour of FSO). Since we have ofono
in OE-Core which replaces and surpasses its functionality, we can remove
libgsmd.

If the kernel version string uses characters or symbols that
need to be santized for the package name, we can end up with a
mismatch between module requirements and what the kernel
provides.
The kernel version is pulled from utsrelease.h, which contains
the exact string that was passed to the kernel build, not
one that is santized, this can result in:

At rootfs assembly time, we'll have a dependency issue with the kernel
providing the santizied string and the modules requiring the utsrelease.h
string.
To not break existing use cases, we can add a second provides to the
kernel packaging with the unsantized version string, and allowing the
kernel module packaging to be unchanged.

MakeMaker has a bug where it does not propagate CC/LD/etc information
down to subproject it generates Makefiles for... this recipe has has an
Expat subproject which has issues building if we are using sstate-cache
and it will reference the old sysroots and be unable to build properly.
There is an upstream MakeMaker bug for this issue but we can work around
it by fixing up the Makefiles for now

Fixes [YOCTO #2527]
Modify configure.ac and the generated configure script to avoid using
help2man during the compilation process. For grub-efi we are only
deploying the EFI payload and are not installing grub on the target
root filesystem. Therefor, we do not need the man pages.
Cleanup the SRC_URI whitespace while we add a line to it.

The current partitioning scheme leaves a 1MB gap between all the
generated partitions by adding a 1 to the end of the last partition to
use as the start of the next. parted is smart enough to not overlap
start and end positions of the same value. This avoids the 1 MB gaps.
Rather than pad the disk with 1MB in the beginning and cut it off at the
MB boundary on the end, we can use 0% and 100% to allow parted to do the
required math and use as much of the disk as possible.

swap_size currently uses a hard coded percentage and ignores the
swap_ratio variable. Fortunately they are the same value currently. Make
the calculation use the variable to avoid problems in the future.

Prepend the license manifest creation call to ROOTFS_POSTPROCESS_COMMAND
instead of appending to ROOTFS_POSTINSTALL_COMMAND. The latter is not
implemented for the deb backend (and probably ought to just be removed
completely), and by using _prepend we can still ensure it occurs before
package info is removed (and before buildhistory in case it is needed
there in future).

There will be errors when the length of the tmpdir is longer than 410:
1) Longer than 420:
Can't exec "/bin/sh": Argument list too long at /usr/lib/perl/5.10/IO/File.pm line 66.
This error happens on both Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10 when the pkg needs run
"autoreconf", this is because it passes many files with absolute path to
aclocal, aclocal passes them to perl, this is a limitation of the perl
on Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10, and the perl-native is not ready at this very
early stage.
2) Longer than 490:
bitbake/lib/bb/persist_data.py", line 197, in connect(database=...)
> return sqlite3.connect(database, timeout=5, isolation_level=None)
OperationalError: unable to open database file
This error happens on Ubuntu 10.04, 10.10 and Fedora 17. This is because
the length of the database in sqlite3 module (host's) can't be longer
than 490 (or little smaller). The python-native is not ready at this
very early stage.
The 2 errors are host related, I think that limit the length of the
TMPDIR to 410 is OK for most of the build, rarely build sets TMPDIR's
longer than 410.

When the length of the tmpdir is longer than 400, there is an error
when run "apt-get update":
Method file has died unexpectedly!
This is because the "char S[1024]" is not enough for long URI, S[2048]
would be enough.

when the tmpdir dir is longer than 220, there is no files saved in
tmp/sysroots/x86_64-linux/var/lib/apt/lists/ after run apt-get update,
this is because apt-get uses the path as the file name, but the file
name can't be longer than 255 according to /usr/include/linux/limits.h.

Needed because the equality check was failing here even though upon
printing the LHS and RHS were the same.
As per http://stackoverflow.com/a/2987975/64537, using "is" compares the
memory addresses of the two objects which is not what we want here. We
just want to compare the values.

When constructing a multilib based image, it's possible to end up with
the same package listed in multiple steps of the install. During resolution
we use the --replacepkgs option to avoid errors, as the resulting install
solution will be as expected. (We do not enable the replacepkgs option
for the final install step, only the generation of the install solution.)

An anonymous python chunk configures some multilib settings for both
populate_sdk_rpm and rootfs_rpm. The two classes should contain identical
versions to ensure that the generated multilib configuration is the same
for the SDK and the rootfs.

lsb need a more abundant /etc/init.d/functions file to handle lsb test.
Use update-alternative to install file funtions in package initscripts,
when package lsbinitscripts installed the file functions of
lsbinitscripts will be used.
