Alexander Kanavin 852e8048d1 bash: package bashbug separately
It's a machine-specific script, which is causing conflicts
when multiple versions of bash are installed in multilib setting,
and it also does not really make sense for embedded systems anyway.

Andreas Oberritter 0b040f9534 bash: use update-alternatives for the bash binary
Busybox may offer a bash applet. If enabled, the alternatives mechanism

Aníbal Limón 05594f8636 bash: Disable custom memory allocator
Bash is failing trying to allocate memory [1] using the custom
memory allocator if we disable it the issue is fixed.

The major distributions also disabled by default [2], so we
don't have a good reason to use it.

The underlying issue is due to bash’s malloc using brk() calls
to allocate memory, which fail when address randomization is
enabled in kernel. sbrk() based custom allocators are obsolete.
There may be some performance impact of this however correctness
is more important.

Max Eliaser 64df4e4aef Add texinfo.bbclass; recipes that use texinfo utils at build-time inherit it.
The class itself currently does nothing. The idea is to mark all recipes that
make use of the texinfo utilities. In the future, this class could be used to
suppress the generation/formatting of documentation for performance,
explicitly track dependencies on these utilities, and eliminate Yocto's
current dependency on the host system's texinfo utilities.

Richard Purdie 069de520ec autotools-brokensep: Mark recipes with broken separate build dir support
This patch goes through the OE-Core recipes and marks those which use autotools
but don't support a separate build directory (${S} != ${B}). A new class,
autotools-brokensep is used for this purpose.

Paul Eggleton cec8b230cf Replace one-line DESCRIPTION with SUMMARY
A lot of our recipes had short one-line DESCRIPTION values and no
SUMMARY value set. In this case it's much better to just set SUMMARY
since DESCRIPTION is defaulted from SUMMARY anyway and then the SUMMARY
is at least useful. I also took the opportunity to fix up a lot of the
new SUMMARY values, making them concisely explain the function of the
recipe / package where possible.

Björn Stenberg a0d2cde524 bash ptest: Sed away the Makefile dependency to remove error messages.
The bash Makefile defines a dependency on itself and tries to run configure,
causing error messages when running ptest on target:

make: *** No rule to make target `configure.in', needed by `configure'.
make: *** No rule to make target `aclocal.m4', needed by `configure'.
make: *** No rule to make target `config.h.in', needed by `configure'.
make: *** No rule to make target `Makefile.in', needed by `Makefile'.

This patch edits out this dependency in the Makefile installed for ptest,

Richard Purdie 29d6678fd5 Major layout change to the packages directory
Having one monolithic packages directory makes it hard to find things
and is generally overwhelming. This commit splits it into several
logical sections roughly based on function, recipes.txt gives more
information about the classifications used.

The opportunity is also used to switch from "packages" to "recipes"
as used in OpenEmbedded as the term "packages" can be confusing to
people and has many different meanings.

Not all recipes have been classified yet, this is just a first pass
at separating things out. Some packages are moved to meta-extras as
they're no longer actively used or maintained.
