When you using a qemuppc target and sstate you might end up with
the problem:
qemu-system-ppc: error while loading shared libraries:
libfdt.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
The way you can force this to happen assuming you are using sstate is
as follows:
bitbake dtc-native
bitbake -c cleansstate qemu-native
bitbake qemu-native
bitbake -c clean dtc-native
Now go start qemu and it will fail. The solution is to always build
the dtc libraries since they are used and needed by the qemuppc
simulator.

pseudo 1.5's enable-force-async works great, unless you use a host
where, inexplicably, stat(2) reports inconsistent and changing values
for a file's size or times for some time unless a file has been fsynced,
in which case you might want a way to cause an fsync to work.
Also noticed that some recent changes never made it into the docs, so
I did a little cleanup there. And changed the way NDEBUG suppresses
pseudo's debug messages, so arguments to them with possible side
effects (like calls into functions in another translation unit) can be
omitted, which should drastically reduce computational time if anyone
ever uses NDEBUG.

In order to generate new disk images for ext(2,3,4) which contain root
file systems we do not want to rely on the host's genext2fs which may
have different arguments and features, so allow the nativesdk
genext2fs binary to be built.

The pseudo 1.5 update is a moderately experimental set of changes
which ought to improve performance. With these changes, pseudo
uses an in-memory sqlite database which is lushed on exit,
the protocol is changed to reduce waiting for server responses,
and pseudo can suppress any and all fsync/fdatasync type operations.
This last feature is optional, and not on by default, so we need
to pass in an extra configure argument, but that argument wouldn't
be known to an older configure, so... Enter PSEUDO_EXTRA_OPTS which
is passed to configure, and which pseudo_1.5.bb sets by default to
"--enable-force-async". (I haven't added it in pseudo_git.bb, but
maybe it should be changed; I'm not quite as sure there.)
The justification for these changes is that, for most of the real-world
build cases I deal with, they produce a 25% or more reduction in the
build time of a project. This increases when a system is heavily
loaded.

The 'make update' was using wget to get the gmo and other gnu files from
upstream, since need to work cleanly in a non-networked or proxy environment
this does not so well. Remove the list of languages from the LINGUAS file.

The 1.4.4 fix replaced possible double-prepending of chroot paths
with possible non-prepending of chroot paths. After significant
evaluation, have settled on a single prepending of the chroot
path as a workable compromise.

The pseudo 1.4.2 linkat() implementation had a broken edge case
in which you could end up with chroot paths being doubled when
using plain link() calls instead of linkat() calls.

If you never use sstate and always build everything from scratch you
will never see this problem. However, if you use sstate and build
directories that last a long time eventually you can end up with the
scenario where libtool gets a hard coded path in it for sed, and sed
may not exist. The reason you don't see this problem to often if you
generally build from scratch is that libtool builds before sed and
will pickup the host's /bin/sed.
The way to reproduce the issue is:
bitbake some_image
bitbake -c cleansstate libtool-native
bitbake sed-native
bitbake libtool-native
bitbake -c clean sed-native
bitbake ANY_PACKAGE_THAT_USES_LIBTOOL_NATIVE
In my case I used modphp, which doesn't exist in the oe-core. You will
end up with a strange looking error like:

targets. For me, systemd fails to build without this patch, and does
build consistently with it.

This updates to pseudo 1.4.3. Changes:
1. A couple of minor tweaks to reduce difficulties using SDKs built
on slightly more recent machines on older machines; specifically,
avoiding getting @GLIBC_2.7 symbol references for sscanf(), fscanf(),
and open2().
2. Revision of the logic determining the library directory to use for
sqlite's library files.
The latter is a source of difficulty because it's come up a few times
that we may want pseudo to use lib64 for libpseudo.so, but bitbake's
usual setup would have libsqlite3.a in lib regardless of bit width.
Cleaned up previous design a bit by providing a distinct setting for
sqlite-lib, which defaults to the same library directory used for other
things. Adjusted build to use this new setting. (This ends up being
${baselib}; on targets, that might not be lib, but for native builds
it generally is, and for SDK builds it appears to do the right thing.)
Testing: Successful build of meta-toolchain for both 64-bit and 32-bit
SDKMACHINE, and builds with NO32LIBS = "0" also succeeded. Also builds
for multilib targets.

We need the files to be tracked by sstate so we need to jump through
some hoops to ensure this happens. The cross bindir directory
isn't staged automatically so we need to handle this outselves.

git-core provides the following routines (among others): git-sh-setup,
cd_to_toplevel, die, and more. But it is not always in the same location
relative to the guilt binary if git is not part of a 'host tools'
sysroot. Modern git versions don't need this, so commenting it out (until it
breaks again) is the solution to the problem of it not existing, and the
library routines will sourced and provided by git itself.
Since bitbake.conf has git-native as ASSUME_PROVIDED, this means that
when the system git binary is used, errors such as this can be seen in
failed patch logs:

Added two new flags to the configure script:
--disable-Werror: don't treat all warnings all errors (which breaks compilation).
PYTHON=/dev/null: this prevents distcc from detecting the host Python and trying
to build its include server using the host Python. This disables the include
server completely. If the include server is needed, that should be the object of
another patch (and would introduce a dependency on python for distcc).
The 'distcc-avahi' and 'makefile-param-order' patches are not needed anymore, as
they were merged upstream.

To fix some multilib issues, change the way the RPM backend decides
if two packages can coexist: if they have a different architecture,
automatically assume that they can coexist (which is fundamental for
multilib).

Invoking dpkg-scanpackages on Fedora 17 to build deb image meets such an error:
Can't locate Dpkg.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/local/lib64/perl5 /usr/loc
al/share/perl5 /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl /usr
/lib64/perl5 /usr/share/perl5.) at tmp/sysroots/x86_64-linux/usr/bin/dpkg-sca
npackages line 27.
1. The dpkg-scanpackages is invoked at deb image creation time and it is built
by dpkg-native. The dpkg-scanpackages is a perl script and import module `Dpkg'.
2. The Dpkg.pm has been installed in perl's staging dir at dpkg-native compiling
time. Such as `tmp/sysroots/x86_64-linux/usr/lib/perl-native/perl/Dpkg.pm'
3. The dpkg-native uses create_wrapper to relocate to perl-native if perl-native
has been built. If perl-native isn't built, it will use the host Dpkg as default.
4. If dpkg-native is built on a new build envionment which means perl-native doesn't
exist before, and the build system doesn't install dpkg (such as Fedora 17), the
dpkg-scanpackages could not work correctly.
5. Modify dpkg-native's depends, change `perl-native-runtime' to `perl-native', Let
perl-native automatically be built before building dpkg-native.

${libdir} is not applicable for the install path of perl-native files,
files are always installed to /usr/lib no matter the target is 32/64
bits. After installing, remove unpackaged and unneeded perl-native
files to prevent warnings.

Currently, do_rootfs has a dependency on all the do_package output being present
due to its usage of the pkgdata directories. This means that if you run:
bitbake xxxx-image -c rootfs
you end up having to fetch and unpack all the do_package data which is usually
large and inefficient. It also means rm_work has to leave all the do_package
data lying around so rootfs works.
This patch splits the actual creation of the pkgdata directory off into a separate
task, "packagedata" which happens immediately after do_package. We can then remap
the dependencies so this task is depended upon, not do_package. Sstate can then be
programmed not to require do_package at the appropriate times.
Whilst this patch doesn't do so, it opens the possibility of rm_work wiping
out the do_package output from WORKDIR as long as it also removed the do_package
stamp (both normal and setscene variants) and allowing more space savings
with rm_work which has been regularly requested.

Multicore embedded systems are getting more and more common.
Remove "--disable-openmp" from the GCC configuration options and
always build libgomp. This only creates a "bigger" compiler but
has no effect on the compiled binaries that don't use openmp.
Tested a clean build on mips32el and arm7a, no problems encountered.
Autoconf will not detect OpenMP after this change, because it will
build and run a target binary on the build system. In order to use
OpenMP, the variable ac_cv_prog_c_openmp=-fopenmp must be set.

The rearrangement of various file contents left these empty modules which
don't get packaged and hence lead to image creation errors on anything using
them. This patch ensures the dependencies are attached to the packages
which contain the config files or the build module infrastructure as
appropriate. It also resolves some confusion over whether the name is
perl-module-build or perl-module-module-build, the latter being the
autogenerated dependency which previously couldn't be found.

Patch perl to allow builds to work where a native perl running against target modules
attempts to load a dynamic binary module. We assume that a native version of the
module exists as it would for the target and perform an appropriate path
substitution.

Apply the errno_ver.diff patch to the native perl version. This ensures that when
we're building target modules, running the native perl binary but in a target
configuration we don't see error messages.
libencode-detect-perl is a module which tests this.

We don't want the perl module dependencies being added to each package
by rpmdeps because it causes too many problems when the modules aren't
available at install time (since they get added in do_package which is
too late for the build system to ensure they are available), and it
appears that the perl dependency gathering isn't working reliably in any
case judging by how they are detected on some build hosts and not
others.
This was being disabled previously but it seems like the macros moved
to a different file at some point and nobody noticed; thus make sure we
disable the macros in all RPM macro files.
Should fix [YOCTO #3699].

If configure of perl is reattempted it currently fails as it tries to edit
files outside ${S}. Chaging from ${WORKDIR} to ${S} avoids this issue
and allows rebuilds to work.

1.The file of "apt.conf.sample" is in the outdir, and outdir is assigned
by "os.path.join" with the params of ${D}, ${sysconfdir} and "apt". But
${sysconfdir} is an absolute dir and that let ${D} be discarded.
The following is the help on function os.path.join(a, *p):
Join two or more pathname components, inserting '/' as needed.
If any component is an absolute path, all previous path components
will be discarded.
Use oe.path.join instead which don't have this problem.
2. Create apt.conf.sample if it doesn't exist.

smart's "config" command uses the Python pprint module. If it is not
present, "config" fails with this error:

restore FILESPATH to previous setting because the new one doesn't allow the
normal use of FILESEXTRAPATHS_prepend in the case of append recipe.
In the current implementation, in fact, the FILESPATH is statically set into
the gcc-4.7.inc and so the base_set_filespath is not invoked to manage
extrapaths.

Base on dependency create script provided by Saul, I update it with:
1 remove document strings in perl module files that may import fake
dependencies.
2 not all the 'use' or 'require' clauses start at the begin of line, and
some of them don't end with ';', such as:
use vars qw(
$AUTOLOAD
...
3 filter some strings that they are not real dependencies: some of them
are wrong result of script, some are conditional use/require, and some
are cpan extra modules that we don't need.

File warnings/register.pm has been moved to package perl, update
RPROVIDES_perl to provides perl-module-warnings-register for backward
compatibility.
Update populate_package script for:
1 Way to deal directory 'Module/' is not right, it creates packages
whose names end with '-pm'. Update to drop these packages.
2 Deal directory 'auto/' to put same name module file(.pm) and library
file(.so) into one package. That because .pm file requires the same
name .so file at runtime.

In perl source code, run "make test" will run perl test cases. Put these
cases into a seprated sub-package then we can run the perl test on
target.

This patch creates a new distro feature "ptest", which creates -ptest
packages containing the test suite of the package for running on the
target. Test files are installed in /usr/lib/<pkg>/ptest.
The patch also includes a change to automake, splitting the "make check"
target into separate steps for building and running the tests.

gcc-cross-canadian uses cross compiler during libgcc build
when building from sstate the build failed when building
gcc-cross-canadian since it did not populate gcc-cross
therefore add an explicit dependency on virtual/${TARGET_PREFIX}gcc
to make sure that gcc-cross is available before building
gcc-cross-canadian

global-reject-file.diff was patch ported from Debian that Debian
itself has dropped as upstream now has equivalent functionality.
To update users of this functionality, replace
"--global-reject-file=file" with simple "--reject-file=file" which
no longer overwrites reject hunks from different files.

Fix runtime-relocation issues with the RPM and Smart wrappers.
In addition the patches were necessary to fix related problems.
The changes to the includes three categories of issues:
*) Incorrect pathname evaluations
*) Incorrect evaluation of the /etc/rpm/platform file contents
*) Confusing vendor #define checks
Finally, a simple way to debug the platformScore was added as
that is necessary to debug how this works and into the smart system.

This patch addresses an SDK installer issue on older distributions if
the installation takes place in another directory than the default one. In
fact, is all about the 'file' utility version used for determining if a
file is a text file. For example, for a perl script, newer 'file' versions
return:
"...script, ASCII text executable"
while older versions return:
"...script text executable"
Hence the regex pattern didn't match the scripts.
Also the patch contains two unrelated minor fixes:
* return an exit code of 1 instead of -1 when installation machine is
not supported. That because on an older distribution we also get this
error message: "exit: 9: Illegal number: -1";
* remove unnecessary $SUDO_EXEC prefix to grep;

The libtelepathy-glib-dev package contains a .pc file that has a requires
of pkgconfig(pkg-config) > 0.21 in it. In order to satisfy this requirement
we add a manual RPROVIDE to the pkgconfig package.

Add support for an rpm-extra-macros config option which can be
used to define some extra macros that need to be set for rootfs
construction to work on the host and that don't really warrant

Allowing us to turn on these options enables installation of base-files
which contains a symlink to /proc/mounts which is auto-detected as a

Implement support within Smart for handling RRECOMMENDS relationships
between RPM packages as used by OE. This includes support within the
base system for caching and resolving these relationships as well as
specific support in the RPM backend for reading the information from
packages, and reading the "missingok" flag added to createrepo for
rpm-md feeds.

When guile is installed from sstate, if the compiled files get a modified time
older than the source files then guile will produce warnings like this:

Not staging the files and letting guile re-compile them on demand won't work:

So, use a sstate postinst function to explicitly touch the compiled files after
the extraction to ensure that they are fresher.

The autoconf macros in autogen use dpkg (!) and guile-config to determine
what/where Guile is.
If the build host has an installed guile, these can produce conflicting results.
More interestingly, if the Guile library source and compiled form have bad
timestamps (source newer than compiled) the configure scripts knows that Guile
is present but doesn't know what version it is, resulting in compile errors.

gdk/Makefile.am miss this. This will cause
build error sometimes when built

The perl shared libraries did not have RPATHs set and that made
autoreconf fail when using the SDK. The LDDLFLAGS environment variable
was already exported in the recipe but was not used when generating the
config.sh.

benefits this brings. As far as I can tell from searching the
discussion archives, there doesn't appear to be a reason not to enable
this, and the benefits are real.
Both the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, all Fedora, and Ubuntu Quantal
GCC builds are configured with this on. I plan to use it in
gnome-ostree.

When building the SDK, the final .interp section size should be set to a
bigger value (0x1000) in order to be able to change the dynamic loader's
path later. However, we shouldn't do that for partial linked objects
(when -r or -rU is used). That's because those objects will then have an
.interp section of 0x1000 even if it contains no data and when the final
linking is done we will end up with a "cannot move location counter
backwards" error. That's because the linker will try to squeeze all the data in
the .interp sections found in various partial linked objects into one 0x1000
bytes final .interp section.

gcc-cross cannot build without linux-libc-headers but doesn't explicitly depend on
it relying on the implied dependency through libc. With cases where pieces
can be installed through sstate, we now need this explicit dependency to
ensure builds with partial sstate work.

At runtime virtual/ providers make *no* sense at all. They also break debian
packaging since the "/" character is not allowed in debian package names.
This patch removes this runtime provider selection code since it is not
workable and breaks builds.

In a small number of cases we need to have ${PN} in FILESPATH rather

The kernel.org mirror of the guilt tarball has been missing for a while
and the yocto mirrors have been keeping builds working. Switching to a
debian upstream is better than solely relying on the yocto mirrors for
serving the tgz.

Its bad practise to poke into the sysroot without knowledge of sstate.
This adds a patch to python allowing us to account for cross compiling
and allow it to find the Makefile/pyconfig.h files without needing them
in the sysroot for do_compile/do_install to complete.
Tested on two architectures and compared with buildhistory with no
significant delta.

Currently smart does not support recommend dependencies. Add the first set
of 'support' for RPMSENSE_MISSINGOK (the flag that makes something a
recommend). This initial support ends up ignoring the recommendation, but is
written in a way that it will be the basis of eventual support.

If python support is enabled we want to make sure that the RPM python support
is packaged properly.
Move the components into the site-packages directory, move the .la files to a
new -dev package.
Add "rpm" as a dependency of python-rpm, otherwise rpm and the associated
libraries won't be available.
Fixup python wrapper to handle automatic relocation, as supported by the
vendor WINDRIVER configuration. (Based on a patch from Paul Eggleton)

If sstate-inputdirs and sstate-outputdirs don't match with ending '/'
characters, the manifest file can end up corrupted. This change
ensures the metadata is consistent in ending do_populate_root tasks
with this character to avoid manifest file corruption.

Run autoreconf fails because it uses several perl modules and they
requires other perl modules. So update these dependencies for:
perl-module-exporter
perl-module-file-glob
perl-module-file-path
perl-module-file-spec
perl-module-file-stat
perl-module-io-file
perl-module-io-handle
perl-module-io-seekable
perl-module-posix
And RDEPENDS rules in file perl-rdepends_5.14.2.inc don't work for
nativesdk perl module packages. Replace all "perl" with "${PN}" in the
file to fix that.
In nativesdk.bbclass it calls
oe.classextend.NativesdkClassExtender().map_packagevars() to map package
vars include var RDEPENDS. In map_packagevars():
for pkg in (self.d.getVar("PACKAGES", True).split() + [""]):
the value of var "PACKAGES" may not be calculated correctly, so for
all the nativesdk packages created by
PACKAGES_DYNAMIC_virtclass-nativesdk += "^nativesdk-perl-module-.*"
dependencies are wrong.
This is similar with 51cbb5ae76.

Every package provides itself. While printing package information all
fields are printed only if there is any relevant info for them. For
example: a package with no "Replaces" won't get this printed at all.
Packages which provide only themselves, were printing this field but with
no values. This patch skips this field if the package provides only
itself.

While removing a package with opkg, the process shouldn't be blocked if
another package RECOMMENDS the package wanted to be removed. This is
because, while generating the dependencies, opkg adds dependencies to
depended_upon_by even if dependency's type is RECOMMEND. The fix is to
skip dependencies of type RECOMMEND while constructing depended_upon_by.

This patch fixes 2 problems.
The first one is that when run "perl -V" on target, it fails with lack
of some .pm files. So add these perl module files to package perl itself
to fix this failure.
The second problem is that package nativesdk-perl-modules doesn't depends
on the single perl modules.
In the .bb file, dependencies of perl-modules are set by:
RRECOMMENDS_perl-modules = "${@d.getVar('PACKAGES', True)...}"
The PACKAGES would be reset by do_split_packages since:
PACKAGES_DYNAMIC = "perl-module-*"
PACKAGES_DYNAMIC_virtclass-nativesdk = "nativesdk-perl-module-*"
Then:
1) The target perl-modules RRECOMMENDS on perl-module-*, this is what
we expect.
2) But the nativesdk-perl-modules doesn't RRECOMMENDS on
nativesdk-perl-module-*, this is not what we expect.
The value of PACKAGES after do_split_packages has been set correctly (it
contains the nativesdk-perl-module-* packages)
But the:
RRECOMMENDS_perl-modules = "${@d.getVar('PACKAGES', True)...}"
doesn't work correctly for nativesdk, the
d.getVar('RRECOMMENDS_perl-modules', True)
doesn't get the new value of the PACKAGES, it gets the value of PACKAGES
before the do_split_packages.
This patch will fix the problem.

Commit 9c9ea24b115a9bb87df1323b5f185ce426262aec made strace depend on perl because the
strace-graph script needs it. However, this cost of the dependency is large (building
all of perl) and the value of the script is marginal. Let's just delete the script
instead and remove the dependency again.
If anybody wants strace-graph then it should be packaged in its own recipe and that one
can be made to depend on perl without disrupting the main strace package.

If you:
bitbake sed-native
bitbake libtool-cross
then libtool-cross has SED="/path/to/sysroot/sed" which is incorrect. If that
is reused from sstate or sed-native is cleaned, the build will fail.
This patch simply sets sed to be "sed" since we're not on systems where
the sed from PATH is broken.

This line causes pkgconfig-dev to replace pkgconfig so the package with all the files
in is replaced by one with no files. This makes no sense and hence we should just
remove this broken line.
At this point in the release, this is the safest way to fix this even if an empty -dev
package is left available.

perl.c uses an ARCHLIB_EXP define to generate compile-time code that
adds the archlibexp path to @INC during run-time initialization of a
new perl interpreter.
Because we've changed this value in a temporary way to make it
possible to use ExtUtils::Embed in the target build (the temporary
value in config.sh gets re-stripped out during packaging), the
ARCHLIB_EXP value that gets generated still uses the temporary version
instead of the original expected version (i.e. becauses it's in the
generated config.h, it doesn't get stripped out during packaging like
the others in config.sh).
This creates an unmodified version called archlib_exp that gets used
by a modified config_h.SH to get the correct value into config.h
This patch uses an unmodified version of archlibexp called
archlib_exp, introduced to config.sh, which is used to generate the
correct value of ARCHLIB_EXP into config.h

We were mistakenly writing what was meant to go to stderr into the
output file, so when the "Multiple matches" error showed we weren't
actually seeing the matches printed.
Also change the wording of the "Unable to find package..." to "Unable
to resolve package..." instead so that it makes more sense if it is
printed after the "Multiple matches" error.

qemu-mips user emulation binary segfaults when running any kind of
binary. This is due to a MMU access fault in the virtual CPU. This
problem has been introduced in qemu when 4GB of vmem were reserved for
32-on-64 bit.
This workaround will need to be reverted once the proper fix is found.

Even when installing onto a live target system, calling sync() during
package installation is of somewhat questionable benefit. But calling
it on the build host during rootfs construction is certainly useless and
can cause I/O to stall for several seconds on even a moderately sized
host which is clearly not desirable.

In certain cases with BerkleyDB 5.3.x we are getting the error:
db3.c:1443: dbcursor->pget(-30999): BDB0063 DB_BUFFER_SMALL: User memory too small fo

It appears to be some type of a bug in the BerkleyDB 5.3.x. In an attempt
to workaround the problem, when we encounter this situation we attempt
to adjust the size of the mmap buffer until the call works, or we
end up trying 10 times. The new size is either the updated vp->size
from the failed pget call, or the previous size + 1024.
If DBI debugging is enabled, additional diagnostics are printed, otherwise
a basic retry and success message is added to show that the failure was
resolved.

Remove the optimzation append from recipe and add the patch that is in the rpm
cvs repo, http://www.mail-archive.com/rpm-cvs@rpm5.org/msg08907.html. The -O2
optimzation append is removed since it can limit debugging options that are
provided when -O0 is used.
This was tested by setting: SELECTED_OPTIMIZATION = "-O0"

There is an issue that is caused when doing the install step of rpm on systems
with high parallelization where two jobs of make will fight for the same file
while installing the sub-directory lua. This is caused by the same makefile rule
being called twice in a way that both could be trying to install at the same
time.
This fix renames the linking rule so it will always be run after the needed
files are added and removed it's dependency so the required rule would only
run once.
This was tested heavily using ppss to run mutliple installs in parallel. This
wouldn't happen in practise but it was tested will all the individual rules as
well.

When attempting to build with uuid and all tests compiling will error because
uuid.h doesn't exist in the rpm tarball. Fix this by changing the include to
use the one in ossp which solves the issue.
The recipe already depends on ossp so ossp/uuid.h will be there when rpm-native
is built.

We're going around in circles trying to fix the sed expressions and making one case
work and others not work. This patch fixes the base configuration file so we have
non-overlapping substitutions. I've tried to significantly clean up various problems
that were occurring once and for all.
This will hopefully resolve all the issues people have been seeing with incorrect perl
paths.

Nothing should ever be poking files directly into the staging/sysroot
directories, it should always go through ${D}.
This patch ensures this recipe does this and hence fixes various
potential build issues such as lack of sstate tracking of files.

Commit 38234f2e276356b1d77a87ceabc486107e336d19 tried to fix the sed
expressions by anchoring the left side of the search regexp to prevent
$prefix$prefix type expression in the perl config. For nativesdk this is
not enough. Adding anchors on both side fixes this.

When doing multilib builds rpm does not find libgcc1 for lib32
multilib because its not honoring the debian renaming scheme for
libgcc-multilib. Lets add MLPREFIX to fix it.

For reasons that are now shrouded in obscurity, autotools.bbclass
has long contained a special heuristic to avoid attempting to run
autoreconf when building autoconf or automake themselves. However,
the wildcard test against PN which is used there is problematic when
trying to build another package whose name happens to start with
"autoconf", and in any case it is silly to do this test at runtime
for every package. The individual recipes for autoconf and automake
can just as easily suppress the behaviour that they don't want by
providing a custom do_configure() method which just runs configure.

The globs used for STAMPCLEAN were too greedy matching gcc-cross-initial
stamps for gcc-cross for example. This patch resolves that problem making
the assumption that PV starts with something numeric. This assumption
should hold in most cases and has a better failure case that the current
situation.

If the installation is done in a directory which already contains a
valid installation, opkg will not install anything and the moving the
contents of /install/dir/opt/poky/1.2 (for example) to /install/dir will
throw some errors. However, the install directory will not be affected.
This patch will ensure that the /install/dir/opt/poky/1.2 exists.

The SDK installation scripts should not canonicalize symlinked
directories because the entire relocation would be done to the directory
to which the symlink points. Instead, if the installation is a symlink,
use that path to relocate the binaries.
For example, if we have the following symlink: /opt/sdk -> ~/my/test/sdk
the binaries will be relocated to /opt/sdk not ~/my/test/sdk as it is
done now.

When the cross canadian toolchains are installed, for different
architectures, they might contain common files. This leads to
installation failures since the opkg, by default, does not overwrite
files. This issue happens, for example, for binutils packages (that
contain the same locale files) or gdb (which installs some syscalls xml
files). The locale files could be removed from the binutils
cross-canadian package but we cannot do the same for the syscalls GDB
files which are used by GDB to display user friendly names for the
syscall numbers. Hence, the best solution is to force opkg to overwrite
these files.

This is for fixing the problem:
1) bitbake core-image-sato-sdk with MACHINE=qemux86
2) bitbake core-image-sato with with MACHINE=crownbay
The qemux86's PACKAGE_ARCH is i586, the crownbay's is core2, but several
i586 packages will be installed into crownbay's rootfs though there are
core2 packages. For example, there are:
xserver-xorg*_1.11.2-r7_i586.ipk
xserver-xorg*_1.9.3-r1_core2.ipk
The crownbay.conf says:
PREFERRED_VERSION_xserver-xorg ?= "1.9.3"
What the crownbay's image needs is xserver-xorg*_1.9.3-r1_core2.ipk, but
the xserver-xorg*_1.11.2-r7_i586.ipk will be installed, this is
incorrect.
This is caused by opkg's selecting mechanism: when more than one
candidate is found, it will use the higher version one and ignore the
arch priority.
we have several conf files which set the PREFERRED_VERSION_pkg = "..." ,
but there is no such a mechanism which can let us tell the opkg to
install the preferred version. When the preferred version is higher,
this is OK, but if the preferred version is lower, there would be
problems:
1) Most of the packages are core2 in the image, but several of them are
i586, though we have built the core2 ones, this seems strange.
2) What's worse is that the image may not work since the preferred
version pkg is not installed.
We have set the arch priority clearly in the opkg.conf, I think that
respect to the arch priority is reasonable during the image generation.
Add the "--select-higher-version" option to let the user have another
choice, the default is no.

This is a simple upgrade. Dropping the unneeded patches
and adding --disable-werror to configure since thats is
what one of the patch was doing which was dropped.
