Ross Burton 3adb8d5cde python3: remove optimize by default patch
Python 3 resurrected the default to optimised patch, on the rationale that
embedded systems want all the performance they can get. Unfortunately the only
impact Python "optimisation" has is to remove all asserts which can be actively
harmful, so remove this patch.

It only matched name ony in the past, for example:
smart install busybox (matched)

Erkka Kääriä ec72426c82 python: Add python-misc as rdependency to python-modules
Currently python-misc is not included even if python-modules is. This means
some python scripts fail even if python-modules is included in the image
(for example, get-pip.py at bootrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py). This patch adds
python-misc as runtime dependency for python-modules.

Erkka Kääriä 2515cf2ad3 python: remove --with-wctype-functions configure option
This option is causing issues with python unicode support. Several unicode
related regression tests are currently failing (test_re and test_codecs for
example) and removing this option fixes these.

This configure option mostly seems to be historical. Discussion related to
python issue 9210 (https://bugs.python.org/issue9210) indicates its original
goal was to save memory and that the option should have been deprecated ages
ago.

Dominic Sacré 0b69680a33 python3: remove package python3-robotparser
robotparser has been moved to urllib.robotparser in Python 3, and gets
packaged as part of python3-netclient alongside the rest of urllib.
This causes python3-modules to depend on an empty/missing
python3-robotparser package.

robotparser.py is relatively small and has no dependencies outside
urllib, so it makes more sense to eliminate the python3-robotparser
package than to alter the manifest for python3-netclient.

Dominic Sacré 3c53a2bbd7 python3: detect libraries in STAGING_LIBDIR
Patch setup.py so that the detect_modules() function looks for required
libraries and headers in STAGING_LIBDIR / STAGING_INCDIR.

Without this patch, several extension modules are not built, even though
their dependencies are present in the compiler's search paths.
The result is the following warning, and ultimately incomplete packages:

| The necessary bits to build these optional modules were not found:
| _bz2 _curses_panel _dbm
| _gdbm _lzma _sqlite3
| nis readline zlib
| To find the necessary bits, look in setup.py in detect_modules() for the module's name.

With the Python 3.3 version of the recipe, at least some of these modules
were built, because STAGING_LIBDIR happened to be in the search path
by coincidence. Due to changes to distutils in Python 3.4, this is no
longer the case.

A previous patch that only affects the search paths for SSL is dropped, as
this one is a more complete fix for [YOCTO #7768].

Richard Purdie 350b73f240 python-smartpm: Improve warnings/errors consistency
Sadly, smart is not deterministic so the same build can go down multiple different
pathways. We'd expect to see the same warnings however depending on the pathway
taken, it may or may not warn, particularly with Recommends since they're optional.

For example, where a Recommended package is available but has Conflicts, we'd expect
to see an warning that we couldn't install it. Some code paths silently hide this
(its a LOCKED_CONFLICT). We add printing of warnings for this case.

Also, if there are two compatible feeds available (e.g. i586 and core2_32), this
changes the code path from direct _install() to _pending() since there are multiple
providers. This patch adds warning handling to _pending() so we don't hit hard
failures there. This is as seen with the mysterious libspeexdsp failures for x86-lsb
on the autobuilder.

Paul Eggleton e5a11759d8 python-smartpm: change "already installed" warnings into info messages
It's possible to trigger "already installed" messages during normal
usage if you explicitly install something in the image through
IMAGE_INSTALL that has a dependency on some -dev packages and also have
dev-pkgs in IMAGE_FEATURES. Since we now check the do_rootfs log for
warnings, these are reported as warnings at the build system level.
This situation should not trigger warnings, nor is it really cause for
concern under any other circumstance if the user asks smart to install
something that's already installed, so make it an info message rather
than a warning.

Alejandro Hernandez bebf1ceb35 python3: Disable pip to fix issues on the Autobuilders
As Python-3.4 pip is required and installed by default, pips installation
is bootstrapped using python wheels, this makes it complicated to patch,
by default the installation uses an absolute path to /tmp, on most cases
this would not be a problem, but since on the Autobuilders several Python
installations (for different archs) may be happening at the same time,
this shared resource utilization results in errors at do_install(), this
patch disables pip installation by default for now, until we have a
python3-pip package which we can easily patch in these situations.

Nathan Rossi a64aeb27a9 python: Change python 2.7.9 to use libffi from the system
Changes in python 2.7.9 from 2.7.3 cause issues when building the in
tree libffi for ctypes. These issues primarily affect less common
platforms (e.g. MicroBlaze) that are supported by libffi but the python
overrides for the in tree libffi are not able to detect correctly.

This patch changes the python 2.7.9 recipe to match how the python 3
recipe handles libffi by configuring the build to use the system
libffi. This brings consistency between the libffi used for different
python versions as well as with the system.

Mark Hatle 3bf5b6de3e arch-mips.inc: Change definition of TRANSLATED_TARGET_ARCH
[YOCTO #7230]

In certain system configurations TRANSLATED_TARGET_ARCH will not
expand in the right order for gcc-cross-candian-mips64n32 to be
generated properly.

This will cause SDKs to fail to generate properly.

Changing the global definition of TRANSLATED_TARGET_ARCH always
expands the ABIEXTENSION, which causes the OVERRIDES to pick it up
as well. This effectively defines a new class of overrides for the 'n32'.

The side effect is that we need to duplicate some mips64 overrides, and
redefine others that were previously 'n32' or 'mips64' exclusive to have
the correct semantics.

Chong Lu d7cb96f28d python-smartpm: Add checking for "rpm-ignoresize" option
The do_rootfs takes a very long time when build host has mounted many NFS
devices. syscall lstat() was being called on every filesystem mounted on the
build host during building.
The reason for the lstat() is that rpm is verifying that enough free disk space
is available to do the install. However, since the install is into the target
rootfs it should not matter how much free space there is in the host mounts.
Add checking for "rpm-ignoresize", by it, smart can make whether RPM skip
checking for diskspace when install a rpm package.

Peter Kjellerstedt c742a6a7fb python-scons-native: Make it useable if old host install exists
This was recently fixed to work on Fedora 17 if no scons is installed
on the host by setting the PYTHONPATH to where BitBake has installed
scons. However, if an older version of scons than 2.3.0 is installed,
then it still breaks. This is due to how scons tries to determine its
installation by searching through standard paths. If it finds an old
installation it prepends that path to sys.path thereby causing it to
ignore the PYTHONPATH. The solution is to instead set SCONS_LIB_PATH
which works both if scons is not installed and if an older version is
installed.

Daniel BORNAZ da75a9aaf0 python: fix _json module arbitrary process memory read vulnerability
http://bugs.python.org/issue21529

Python 2 and 3 are susceptible to arbitrary process memory reading by
a user or adversary due to a bug in the _json module caused by
insufficient bounds checking.

The sole prerequisites of this attack are that the attacker is able to
control or influence the two parameters of the default scanstring
function: the string to be decoded and the index.

The bug is caused by allowing the user to supply a negative index
value. The index value is then used directly as an index to an array
in the C code; internally the address of the array and its index are
added to each other in order to yield the address of the value that is
desired. However, by supplying a negative index value and adding this
to the address of the array, the processor's register value wraps
around and the calculated value will point to a position in memory
which isn't within the bounds of the supplied string, causing the
function to access other parts of the process memory.

Roxana 0ed5a13f5f python3: fix builtins imports
The intent of this code is to generate things like -L=/usr/lib/foo so
for paths which start with "/" we should appent the "=". We should not do this
for ".". On some recent versions of binutils or patchsets on some recent
distros this appears to work differently and causes build failures, for example
on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

The simple fix is to check for "." as the path prefix.

bdf07b1698d228dc7ff555199a269b1ff8ceca19 was supposed to ignore

on conflicts, catch errors at the right point so that requested packages
and their dependencies can be ignored, and print appropriate warnings
when doing so.

Paul Eggleton cec8b230cf Replace one-line DESCRIPTION with SUMMARY
A lot of our recipes had short one-line DESCRIPTION values and no
SUMMARY value set. In this case it's much better to just set SUMMARY
since DESCRIPTION is defaulted from SUMMARY anyway and then the SUMMARY
is at least useful. I also took the opportunity to fix up a lot of the
new SUMMARY values, making them concisely explain the function of the
recipe / package where possible.

Christopher Larson 1bc64bae2f python, python-native: fix PARALLEL_MAKEINST failure
When using make -j with the 'install' target, it's possible for altbininstall

installs python-config there) to race, resulting in a failure due to
attempting to install python-config into a nonexistent BINDIR. Ensure it also
exists in the libainstall target.

Zhangle Yang e45d7355f1 python: Fix ptest not working problems
The run-ptest contained in python uses a Makefile. The path of the
Makefile is changed to ${libdir}/python/ptest in do_install_ptest.
However, the directory is wrong when the project is configured with
"--enable-multilib=lib32"

In addition, do_install_ptest is defined before "inherit ptest", so
it is overriden by the one in ptest.bbclass. do_install_ptest is
moved down.

Richard Purdie 0c7b734f96 python: Ensure build completes before install
At the start of install, python swizzles the makefiles around, leading
to chunks of do_compile running again. These race against the install
target, leading to errors if pieces are being recompiled whilst others
are being installed.

For now, workaround this by running the compile target with the new
makefile, then running install ensuring a parallel make race doesn't
happen.
