As the comment in the code says: 

Use weaker error checking because we have some automatically generated
files. However just mask out -Werror, because other warnings below:
     -Wundef -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations
     -Wmissing-prototypes
may actually be important and spot out real bugs.
