gstreamer/lame does runtime detection to enable/disable things like SSE code.
Unfortunately it is broken and will try and use this even with i586
compiler flags. This change forces it back to the approach with gcc 4.8
by disabling the problematic headers.
Its suboptimal but less so that the proposed previous forced enabling of
SSE on x86 everywhere.

Fixes [YOCTO #4497]
Usage of FILESPATH is discouraged, since it can make recipes harder to
bbappend. Instead FILESEXTRAPATHS should be used to extend the path.
However in gstreamer no FILESPATH additions are currently needed so
instead it should be removed.

When we have opengl in distro features but not x11 and try to
build libav then it calls out to build libsdl which inturn has depependency on libglu
and libglu fails to build
ld: error: cannot find -lGL
| collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
| make: *** [libGLU.la] Error 1
| ERROR: oe_runmake failed
since libglu wants glx enabled in mesa and glx in mesa is (righly) enabled only when x11
is in distro features.
This breaks the dependency chain leading to this problem

--disable-valgrind isn't enough, it also looks for the header since the binary
may be present without the -dev headers. Add in a configure value to
ensure the header is disabled as well.

Introduce a AUTOTOOLS_COPYACLOCAL variable which forces the copy of the aclocal
files even when a configure.ac/.in file isn't present.

Adds packageconfigs for all appropriate configure arguments (other than jpeg
8/12 bit mode support, where I wasn't clear on the deps, and which I doubt we
care about).

Commit b92a3e9d093bc9421aa38a40bc6bfd559a16b3be introduced a dependency
on udev, which is undesirable for distros which don't otherwise require
or build udev (and, as such, don't have any interest in the rules.d files).
Make this conditional on a PACKAGECONFIG setting so that it can be turned
off. If it's off, we don't depend on udev and don't ship the rules.

Specify the location of the alsa headers using ${includedir}. Without
this no headers get added to the image when the alsa-lib-dev package is
included.

There should be only one automake under the STAGING_DATADIR_NATIVE in
theory, but der_steffi@gmx.de has reported an odd problem which seemed
like that there are more than one. However, the "automake
--print-libdir" is the regular way to locate automake libdir.

A lot of our recipes had short one-line DESCRIPTION values and no
SUMMARY value set. In this case it's much better to just set SUMMARY
since DESCRIPTION is defaulted from SUMMARY anyway and then the SUMMARY
is at least useful. I also took the opportunity to fix up a lot of the
new SUMMARY values, making them concisely explain the function of the
recipe / package where possible.

Remove the following two unrecognised options:
* --disable-oggtest
* --disable-vorbistest
They are defined in m4/ogg.m4 and m4/vorbistest.m4, but now configure
doesn't use them, configure.ac uses another way to define the
--enable-ogg and --enable-vorbis, and there is no test options, so
remove them.

There is a separate libpostproc recipe in meta-oe for use with 9.x and
later versions of libav for those few that need libpostproc; however if
you just add meta-oe and try to build libpostproc without selecting the
libav 9.x version recipe, you'll be building the libpostproc recipe
together with libav 0.8.x, which provides its own libpostproc; this
leads to confusing errors at packaging time. In order to flag up that
these conflict more appropriately, add libpostproc to PROVIDES
explicitly so that you at least get a multiple providers error at the
start of the build.

Include the console-kit module in PACKSGES explicitly so bitbake can map to
the RDEPENDS we define for it in this recipe, and thereby ensure that when

The libav uses gcc as the ld, but it doesn't use CCLD, it may have
problems when target arch is 64 bit since it doesn't use the "-m64", the
poky's toolchain is fine since use "x86_64-poky-linux-gcc" without
"-m64" is default to 64 bit, but external toolchain *may* default to 32
bit (for example, when multilib is enabled and both 64 and 32 bit use
the same gcc, then the default arch can be either of them), then there
would be errors, the error is just like we run this in poky:
$ x86_64-poky-linux-gcc -m32 <file.c>
ld: skipping incompatible /path/to/sysroot/usr/lib64/x86_64-poky-linux/4.8.2/libgcc.a
when searching for -lgcc
Use CCLD as the ld will fix the problem since CCLD has been set
correctly.

x264 use [EPREFIX/lib] as default libdir. When multlib is enabled that
is not right. Packages depends on x264 such as libav configure fails
that can't find library x264.
Pass the right libdir to configure script to fix it.

The cdg_decode_frame function in cdgraphics.c in libavcodec in FFmpeg before
1.2.1 does not validate the presence of non-header data in a buffer, which

Remove all PR = "r0" from all .bb files in oe-core. This was done
with the command sed -e '/^PR.*=.*r0\"/d' recipes*/*/*.bb -i
We've switching to the PR server, PR bumps are no longer needed and
this saves people either accidentally bumping them or forgetting to
remove the lines (r0 is the default anyway).

PulseAudio's GTK+ support is limited to a test case and automatic icon name
population for applications. This is too limited to enforce GTK+ 3 on all

Functions atomic_add(s) and atomic_sub(s) are defined with 'extern
__inline__' that may cause compile fails when cross compile for mips.
The error message looks like:

kernel commit 24b9f5017 [[media] V4L: Remove deprecated image centering controls]
removed the definitions of V4L2_CID_HCENTER and V4L2_CID_VCENTER after three
years of depreciation.
The ioctl values are still free, and the case statement which processess them
in v4l2 userspace falls through to the proper replacement. So in the short
term, we can explicitly define them using the old absolute values, and everything
will work.

Notes for the git recipe:
* This hasn't been able to be built recently in meta-oe since there was
a circular dependency between libav and libpostproc. libpostproc is
part of libav 0.8.x but was split out in 9+ and is not needed at all
anymore by libav itself, so this dependency was removed.
* Additionally the recipe was filtering out the option to enable
libpostproc but this option wasn't being added by the inc file and
thus the filter wasn't doing anything, so I dropped this as well.

The compile step ends regenerating the configure scripts included in
the source subdirs, for it to properly work we need to pass the

Using --with-plugins means you only get the elements you enable, so we were
dropping vast numbers of useful plugins such as the MPEG muxers.
Instead, follow gst-plugins-base by using PACKAGECONFIG to enable/disable
plugins with optional dependencies.

elements that we don't always enable.

Pass --cpu to libav config when we're building ppc, or else there are
errors like:
You need a compiler that supports {} in AltiVec vector declarations.
Also patch libav configure to have knowledge of more ppc CPUs.

eglibc could be configured to build without the wordexp feature. To
ensure that the wordexp feature could be used, the configure script must
check if wordexp() is supported in libc in addition to checking if
wordexp.h exists.

"extern __inline__ function()" is the inlined version that
can be used in this compilation unit, but there will be another
definition of this function somewhere, so compiler will not emit
any code for the function body. This causes problem in -O0,
where functions are never inlined, the function call is preserved,
but linker can't find the symbol, thus the error happens.
since no packages provide atomic_add and atomic_sub, and -O0
Optimize is hoped to keep for debug, we can change extern to
static to fix this problem.

The -meta packages were depending on non-existing packages,
like -glib and -apps. The fix checks if packages in the PACKAGES list
are empty. If so, they are omitted from the rdepends list.

aclocal is being called here directly,
not called by autotools.bbclass wrapper.
aclocal files are installed in sysroot,
and are removed while build is still running.
This translates to a possible race condition during the build.

18575b082a4042376fd1575465e69562dea04ddc added bash as a dependency of
alsa-utils-alsaconf so that the script interpreter will be available at
run time. However, this has the undesirable side effect of making bash
be a build dependency for alsa-utils and, for those folks who don't need
alsaconf but do want some other part of alsa-utils, this cure is worse
than the original disease.
Fix this by moving alsaconf to a separate recipe so that the bash
dependency only applies when alsaconf is specifically requested.

libpng 1.6.0/1.6.1 emits warnings about function ordering when there isn't a
problem, which causes Cairo to fail loading images. Take the patch from
upstream to fix this.

This attempts to fix [YOCTO #4060] - connman-applet spews warnings, but with this one PNG images still don't work in weston :(
The ARM NEON option was added because the autodetection code in configure.ac is broken:

This prepend was cding to ${S}, which then breaks base_do_compile as it assumes
it's in ${B}. The cd is pointless as all of the operations use absolute paths,
so remove it.
The result of this was that base_do_compile was failing to find the makefiles,
so the compilation happened in do_install.

The gst-ffmpeg build shows the following warning:
configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --disable-yasm
which means that the following test in configure always fails and
--disable-yasm never gets passed to the embedded ffmpeg build:
'if test "x$disable_yasm" = "xyes"; then'
embffmpeg_configure_args="$embffmpeg_configure_args --disable-yasm"
commit 4d309730 ['gst-ffmpeg: configure-fix patch used wrong test']
actually fixed the obviously backwards syntax by reversing the test -
prior to that, --disable-yasm would always unconditionally be passed
into the embedded ffmpeg config.
This fixes things so that the variable actually exists and makes the
test meaningful.

librsvg depends on gtk+, which in turn does not support framebuffer
as backend in current version (2.15.24). This patch disables librsvg
when x11 is not in the distro.

Current verion of gtk+ (2.15.24) does not accept pure framebuffer as
backend and some alsa-tools sub-modules depend on gtk+.
This patch removes those sub-modules from the build only when x11 is not
set in DISTRO_FEATURES.

There are various usages of ALLOW_EMPTY with no packages specified. This
is not recommended syntax, nor is it likely to be supported in the future.
This patch improves the references in OE-Core, either removing them if they're
pointless (e.g. when PACKAGES="") or specifying which package it applies to.

alsa-utils-alsaconf rpm contains the bash script alsaconf. In order
to have the do_rootfs not error when bash is not brought along in
the rootfs as an explicit dependency, we add it as a dependency
of alsa-utils.

When rebuilding build-native already exists. Sadly handling the directory
existing causes cmake to forkbomb when rebuilding, so delete an existing
build-native.
Also remove a variable that cmake warns isn't being used, and just build the
tool that we need natively, not the entire library.

Updating from 1.2.x means also change in actual library name
from libpng12 to libpng15, and slight changes in API.
License md5sums differ only because of license text formatting
changes and because they contain version numbers and release dates.

The new GLib deprecated some threading API, but gst-openmax wasn't detecting
release vs development at all so assuming development, and thus building with
-Werror. Set the variable that the configure script is assuming to exist, so
that -Werror isn't used.

The default value for --with-database is "auto". So, if some package
installs a database library and pulseaudio auto detects, that library
will be added to the dependencies list, causing a dependency error at
do_rootfs time. For example, samba installs libtdb, which is one of
the pulseaudio supported databases.

The splitting out of X11 plugins wasn't complete, which lead to no X11 plugins
being installed.
If the X11 distro feature is present, make gst-meta-base depend on
gst-meta-x11-base. Also make -x11-base RDEPEND on xvimagesink for video
playback performance.

Replaced incorrect "startline" with correct "beginline" for telling

If libICE exists when this package configures, libICE and libSM are
added to the list of included libraries. Adding libsm and libice to the
list of dependencies ensures they'll be present and makes the contents
of this package more deterministic.

The recent sanity checks were flagging:
ELF binary '.../libFLAC.so.8.2.0' has relocations in .text
This is caused by hand-written assembler being invoked badly. Apply a patch
from upstream git that uses PIC instead of relocations.

proximity-helper is only used by the bluetooth-proximity module, and
gconf-helper is only used by the gconf module. Clarify the packaging and clean
up dependencies by shipping the helper binaries with the modules that spawn
them.

The PulseAudio server recently added a dependency by default on the
switch-if-port-available module, but this was not enforced by the package
dependencies so the server won't start.

When DISTRO_FEATURES does not include X11 ensure that both x11
and gtk are diabled correctly. ConsoleKit also has x11, so ensure
that any RDEPENDS is also excluded.
The flags for x11 changed at somepoint to use enable/disable, but
this recipe was not updated.

We don't DEPEND on openssl but configure will try to use it if
pkg-config thinks it might be installed. This can lead to failing
and/or nondeterministic builds, so let's force it off.

It has been pointed out several times that the yocto mpc8315e-rdb
reference was using the wrong tuning (603e), since it is actually
a e300c3 board.
This commit creates a e300c3 tune file based on the e300c2 variant
already in oe-core.
This commit also inhibits altivec in flac when this new tuning is
enabled and used by the mpc8315e-rdb

As discussed on the mailing lists, using a suffix to package names is
hard and has lead to many recipes having to do PKGSUFFIX games. Its
looking extremely hard to scale nativesdk much further without hacking
many recipes.
By comparison, using a prefix like multilib does works much better and
doesn't involve "hacking" as many recipes. This change converts nativesdk
to use a prefix using the existing multilib infrastructure.

1.The included libav configure is not generated by autotools
modify recipe to use correct toolchain wrapper with configure
2.add bzip2 dependency explicitly.
or configure will detect whether libbz2 is installed, if bzip2
is triggered earlier then it will be detected, if not then won't
3.backport libav_e500mc.patch from upstream to patch configure to
disable-altivec if it is e500mc.
4.move the GSTREAMER_DEBUG to libav's configure, it is not the
option for the main configure.

This ensures that tcpwrapper usage is always disabled, this was
inconsistent because it would test for libwrap and sometimes enable

The reason being the --sysroot option is missing from the gcc commandline and

The gstreamer framework has a very useful debugging setup which is
essential for debugging pipelines and plugins. This patch makes
it simple to enable this (disabled by default). To enable debugging,
just add this line to local.conf

libtiff now depends on lzma which can be obtained from xz and doesn't use lzo.
Previously, libtiff would detect and use lzma if it was present leading to
a number of race conditions including failures in things linking to libtiff
such as ghostscript since lzma could be removed while being rebuild leading
to failures in linking.
This patch corrects the dependency.

* The sed script replacing ${bindir}/orcc with
${STAGING_BINDIR_NATIVE}/orcc causes orcc to not be found.
It may have been a workaround for older versions of pkg-config
or older gst-plugins. Removing it makes gst-plugins use
orcc from 'orc-native' successfully, if available.

The alsa-utils-speakertest contains some files from ${datadir} directory
that are not correct, the files from ${datadir}/init directory should
be included in alsa-utils-alsactl package instead.
This patch moves the ${datadir}/init files to alsactl package and fixes
following error at boot stage:
/usr/sbin/alsactl: parse:1655: Unable to open file '/usr/share/alsa/init/00main': No such file or directory

PulseAudio requires libxtst, libice, libsm and libxcb when X11 is
enabled (in our case, when x11 is in DISTRO_FEATURES), so conditionally
add those to DEPENDS.

Dont use autotools, it really not so autoconf like.
the configure script gets updated with every release of zlib
and we overwrite that. Instead use the upstream provided
configure
copyright year was changed in zlib.h which caused change in
LIC_FILE_CHECKSUM
fix.inverted.LFS.logic.patch is already applied upstream so drop it
Drop the configure.ac and Makefile.am scripts since we do not
autoreconf anymore and do not inherit autotools anymore
Bump PR for depending recipes so a rebuild it ensues so that
they dont depend on .la anymore
and add missing dependencies discovered during incremental
build

We need to depend on libsamplerate0 because it's detected automatically
and if we configure without it we get that issue at runtime trying
to run the alsaloop program:
No libsamplerate support.

In the new code, the fix is there in M4/endian.m4 (which is part of acinclude.m4 in 0.1.7)

This patch is to upgrade gst-ffmpeg to 0.10.13.
Some license files are changed because the folder "ffmpeg" disappears, and those license files under "libav" are the same. LICENSE is different because the word "ffmpeg" is changed into "libav" under the libav folder.
Again, gst-ffmpeg tar ball contains library libav itself. So the configure needs to disable yasm for x86.

This fixes bug: [YOCTO #1403]
the custom definition of CC was causing build isuses with x32 toolchain.
And also I found out that the hack is not neccessary anymore. the
affected gst-fluendo-mpegdemux recipe builds fine without the CC hack.

This is a quick audit of only the most obviously wrong licenses
found within OECore. These fixes fall into four areas:
- LICENSE field had incorrect format so that the parser choked
- LICENSE field has a license with no version
- LICENSE field was actually incorrect
- LICENSE field has an imaginary license that didn't exist
This fixes most of the LICENSE warnings thrown, along with my prior
commit adding additional licenses to common-licenses and additional
SPDXLICENSEMAP entries.
HOWEVER..... there is much to be done on the license front.

That said, I would suggest another license audit as I've found
enough inconsistencies. A good suggestion is when in doubt, look at
how openSuse or Gentoo or Debian license the package.

This Fixes bug: [YOCTO #1418]
Remove the `q' suffix on x86-64 atomic instructions.
We don't need the `q' suffix on x86_64 atomic instructions for AO_t,
which is defined as "unsigned long". "unsigned long" is 32bit for x32
and 64bit for x86-64. The register operand in x86-64 atomic instructions
is sufficient to properly determine the register size.

* this is just work around, proper fix proposed by Henning Heinold
hm we should think of reworking this recipe now. Because since gcc 4.5
pulseaudio for arm can use the gcc internal atomicstuff and in oe-core
and meta-oe we have 4.5 or 4.6 only. The lib is
only needed for mips and it is still the old release, on cvs
is a much better version, which supports thumb too, if
remember correctly.

Use the x11 distro feature to determine whether --with-x should be
passed. Further, if we're using X11 add gtk+ to DEPENDS (it's required
to build).

manpage generatition uses xmltoman utility
which inturn uses xml-parser. So we add
libxml-parser-perl-native to DEPENDS and also
inherit perlnative so it does not use the one
from build host

This core does not have altivec, so we disable it in the build,
also reestablish the config option to enable/disable building
with altivec
If SPE is not detected we always build with altivec which is wrong. This
will check to make sure altivec is enabled and pass build options
through accordingly

As for libpng recipe, the libpng.pc is a symbol link to libpng12.pc,
if packaging them into two different packages, we will get a dangling
link for libpng.pc, and when calculating rpm dependency with that file,
we will get nothing.
Only keep one version of dev package to fix the issue.

Gst-plugins get 2 extra packages:
${PN}-apps: helper apps in ${bindir}
${PN}-meta: meta package that will drag in all plugins, libs and apps ${PN} generates
And all libs are split out and run through debian style renaming if enabled.
The packaging include was split out to be reused by external plugins (e.g. gst-plugin-gl, gst-fluendo-*).
The new package list looks like:

in multilibcase, PN has multilib prefix, so it is not
correct to use PN in SRC_URI and S. instead, we've
dedicately pruned multilib prefix in BPN, so BPN is
the right alternative for PN.

For a PPC target flac will try to build with altivec optimizations.
Altivec and SPE are mutually exclusive options. Between flac's
configure choices and the ppce500v2 tune file options we'd end up with
a compile invocation with the following arguments:
-mabi=spe -mspe -mabi=altivec -maltivec
Which would cause the compile to fail due to the mutual exclusion.
