This patch is the initial push to update Asterisk's CDR engine for the new
bridging framework. This patch guts the existing CDR engine and builds the new
on top of messages coming across Stasis. As changes in channel state and bridge
state are detected, CDRs are built and dispatched accordingly. This
fundamentally changes CDRs in a few ways.
(1) CDRs are now *very* reflective of the actual state of channels and bridges.
This means CDRs track well with what an actual channel is doing - which
is useful in transfer scenarios (which were previously difficult to pin
down). It does, however, mean that CDRs cannot be 'fooled'. Previous
behavior in Asterisk allowed for CDR applications, channels, and other
properties to be spoofed in parts of the code - this no longer works.
(2) CDRs have defined behavior in multi-party scenarios. This behavior will not
be what everyone wants, but it is a defined behavior and as such, it is
predictable.
(3) The CDR manipulation functions and applications have been overhauled. Major
changes have been made to ResetCDR and ForkCDR in particular. Many of the
options for these two applications no longer made any sense with the new
framework and the (slightly) more immutable nature of CDRs.
There are a plethora of other changes. For a full description of CDR behavior,
see the CDR specification on the Asterisk wiki.

* The channel variable ATTENDED_TRANSFER_COMPLETE_SOUND is no longer
channel driver specific. If the channel variable is set on the
transferrer channel, the sound will be played to the target of an attended
transfer.
* The channel variable BRIDGEPEER becomes a comma separated list of peers
in a multi-party bridge. The BRIDGEPEER value can have a maximum of 10
peers listed. Any more peers in the bridge will not be included in the
list. BRIDGEPEER is not valid in holding bridges like parking since those
channels do not talk to each other even though they are in a bridge.
* The channel variable BRIDGEPVTCALLID is only valid for two party bridges
and will contain a value if the BRIDGEPEER's channel driver supports it.
* The channel variable DYNAMIC_PEERNAME is redundant with BRIDGEPEER and
is removed. The more useful DYNAMIC_WHO_ACTIVATED gives the channel name
that activated the dynamic feature.
* The channel variables DYNAMIC_FEATURENAME and DYNAMIC_WHO_ACTIVATED are
set only on the channel executing the dynamic feature. Executing a
dynamic feature on the bridge peer in a multi-party bridge will execute it
on all peers of the activating channel.

The attended transfer API call can complete the attended transfer in a number of ways
depending on the current bridged states of the channels involved.
The hiding of masquerades is done in some bridging-related functions, such as the manager

This patch moves a number of AMI events over to the Stasis-Core message bus.
This includes:
* ChanSpyStart/Stop
* MonitorStart/Stop
* MusicOnHoldStart/Stop

In addition, it adds some Stasis-Core and AMI support for generic AMI messages,

channel topics. JSON event generation and validation code is created
from event documentation in rest-api/api-docs/events.json to assist in
JSON event generation, ensure consistency, and ensure that accurate
documentation is available for ALL events that are received by
res_stasis applications.
The userevent application has been refactored along with the code that
handles userevent channel blob events to pass the headers as key/value
pairs in the JSON blob. As a side-effect, app_userevent now handles

This patch does the following:
* A new Stasis payload has been defined for multi-channel messages. This
payload can store multiple ast_channel_snapshot objects along with a single
JSON blob. The payload object itself is opaque; the snapshots are stored
in a container keyed by roles. APIs have been provided to query for and
retrieve the snapshots from the payload object.
* The Dial AMI events have been refactored onto Stasis. This includes dial
messages in app_dial, as well as the core dialing framework. The AMI events
have been modified to send out a DialBegin/DialEnd events, as opposed to
the subevent type that was previously used.
* Stasis messages, types, and other objects related to channels have been
placed in their own file, stasis_channels. Unit tests for some of these
objects/messages have also been written.

HangupRequest and SoftHangupRequest are now ast_channel_blob Stasis
messages, with the cause code as an optional field in the blob.
NewCallerid now simply watches for changes in the callerid information
in channel snapshots, and creates the AMI event appropriately.
Since the original NewCallerid event honored the channelvars setting
in manager.conf, the channel variables configured there had to become
a part of the channel snapshot. These are now a part of every snapshot
based event, making the configuration description "every time a
channel-oriented event is emitted" less of a lie.
There a a few other changes wrapped up in here as well.
* When ast_channel_topic() is given NULL for a channel, it returns
the ast_channel_topic_all() topic instead of NULL. This can clean
up a lot of NULL checking we're doing currently.
* The fields Cause and Cause-txt were removed from the base channel
information and put only on the Hangup events, since those fields
are meaningless outside of a Hangup event.
* Removed the pipe-delimiter processing of the channelvars field,
since that's been deprecated forever.

This patch started out simply as fixing the bouncing tests introduced
in r382685, but required some other changes to give it a decent
implementation.
To fix the bouncing tests, the UserEvent and Newexten AMI events
needed to be refactored to dispatch via Stasis. Dispatching directly
to AMI resulted in those events sometimes getting ahead of the
associated Newchannel events, which would understandably confuse anyone.
I found that instead of creating a zillion different message types and
structures associated with them, it would be preferable to define a
message type that has a channel snapshot and a blob of structured data
with a small bit of additional information. The JSON object model
provides a very nice way of representing structured data, so I went
with that.
* Move JSON support from res_json.c to main/json.c
* Made libjansson-dev a required dependency
* Added an ast_channel_blob message type, which has a channel
snapshot and JSON blob of data.
* Changed UserEvent and Newexten events so that they are dispatched
via ast_channel_blob messages on the channel's topic.
* Got rid of the ast_channel_varset message; used ast_channel_blob
instead.
* Extracted the manager functions converting Stasis channel events to
AMI events into manager_channel.c.

The original report had to do with a realtime peer behind NAT being pruned and
the peer's private address being used instead of its external address. Upon
debugging, it was discovered that this was being caused by the addition of
the auto_force_rport and auto_comedia settings.
This patch does the following:
* Adds a missing note to the CHANGES file indicating that the default global nat
setting is auto_force_rport
* Constify the 'req' parameter for check_via()
* Add calls to check_via() in a couple of places in order for the auto_*
settings to do their job in attempting to determine if NAT is involved
* Set the flags SIP_NAT_FORCE_RPORT and SIP_PAGE2_SYMMETRICRTP if the auto_*
settings are in use where it was needed
* Moves the copying of peer flags up in build_peer() to before they are used;
this fixes the realtime prune issue
* Update the contrib/realtime schemas to allow the nat column to handle the
different nat setting combinations we have

For some channel drivers, specifically those that have a varying rate in the
number of audio samples, the audio quality for a MeetMe conference can be
exceedingly poor. This is due to a unilateral application of the DENOISE
function in func_speex to channels joining the conference.
The denoiser function in the speex library is initialized with the number of
audio samples in each sample that will be provided to it. If the number of
audio samples changes, the denoiser has to be thrown away and re-initialized.
While this could be worked around by removing func_speex, that doesn't help
if you actually use the denoiser with other channels on the system.
This patches does the following:
* Checks for the presence of func_speex as opposed to codec_speex when
determining if the DENOISE function is present (which is where the function
is actually implemented)
* Adds an option to MeetMe 'n' that causes the denoiser to not be applied
to a channel when it joins. This keeps the current behavior the default, but
let's users disable the denoiser if it causes problems on their system.

Currently, if there are modifications to mailboxes that Asterisk is
not aware of, the user needs to add "pollmailboxes" to their mailbox
configuration, which repeatedly polls the subscribed mailboxes for
changes. This results in a lot of extra work for the CPU. This patch
introduces the AMI command VoicemailRefresh which permits external
applications to trigger the refresh themselves. The refresh can apply
to a specified mailbox only, an entire context, or all configured
mailboxes. Even a refresh performed on every mailbox would not consume
as much CPU as the pollmailboxes option, given that pollmailboxes runs
continuously and this only runs on demand.

implemented in parallel to the existing numbered callgroup/pickupgroup
implementation. However, unlike the existing implementation, which is limited
to a maximum of 64 defined groups, the number of defined groups allowed for
named callgroups/pickupgroups is effectively unlimited.
Named groups are configured with the keywords "namedcallgroup" and
"namedpickupgroup". This corresponds to the numbered group definitions of
"callgroup" and "pickupgroup". Note that as the implementation of named groups
coexists with the existing numbered implementation, a defined named group of
"4" does not equate to numbered group 4.
Support for the named groups has been added to the SIP, DAHDI, and mISDN channel
drivers.

This is a patch from kkm from review board.
This is useful for adding headers to REFER requests that
emanate from a Transfer() dialplan application call.
This also fixes some uses of the Referred-by header, removing
an extra set of angle brackets.
I've modified the reporter's original patch to not require
any additions to the sip_refer header and to just remove the
referred_by_name from sip_refer since it is no longer needed
or used.

From corruptor's review board posting:
"I've noticed that we can remove particular extension from context with
dialplan remove extension command but in order to remove all extensions
in the context we should delete them on by one. I've created dialplan
remove context command which uses ast_context_destroy to destroy the
whole context with all extensions. I've created to functions for in
pbx_config.c: handle_cli_dialplan_remove_context which actually removes
context and complete_dialplan_remove_context which completes input.
They are based on other similar functions and pretty trivial but I can be
mistaken somewhere.
"I've also modified dialplan add include <context2> into <context1>. I've
made it similar dialplan add extension ... command. It creates <context1>
if it doesn't exist and I've also modified complete_dialplan_add_include
and removed check for existance of <context2> because we can include
non-existent context into another one. (I usually include empty
(non-existent) contexts in advance). Should we raise warning in this case
as it's raised while reading extensions.conf?
"I use those functions with AMI. I think manager commands should be created
in addition to those CLI commands."
I've addressed the latest comments on review board and have made some other
coding guidelines-related cleanup. I also have modified the CHANGES file to
mention these new commands.

This patch allows you to specify a port number for the MySQL server.
It's useful if a MySQL server is running on a non-standard port.
Even though this module is deprecated in favor of func_odbc, someone
asked for this feature and it seems pretty harmless to add.
It has been tested using a number of combinations of with/without a
port number specified in the dialplan and changing the port number
for mysqld.

Hangup handlers are an alternative to the h extension. They can be used
in addition to the h extension. The idea is to attach a Gosub routine to
a channel that will execute when the call hangs up. Whereas which h
extension gets executed depends on the location of dialplan execution when
the call hangs up, hangup handlers are attached to the call channel. You
can attach multiple handlers that will execute in the order of most

This patch adds the core changes necessary to support AMI event documentation
in the source files of Asterisk, and adds documentation to those AMI events
defined in the core application modules. Event documentation is built from
the source by two new python scripts, located in build_tools:
get_documentation.py and post_process_documentation.py.
The get_documentation.py script mirrors the actions of the existing AWK
get_documentation scripts, except that it will scan the entirety of a source
file for Asterisk documentation. Upon encountering it, if the documentation
happens to be an AMI event, it will attempt to extract information about the
event directly from the manager event macro calls that raise the event. The
post_process_documentation.py script combines manager event instances that
are the same event but documented in multiple source files. It generates
the final core-[lang].xml file.
As this process can take longer to complete than a typical 'make all', it
is only performed if a new make target, 'full', is chosen.

which is basically the same concept as the old ignorebusy setting,
only now the per member setting always controls whether or not the

also converts the nat= setting to a list of comma-separated combinable

nat=yes remains as an undocumented option equal to

https://reviewboard.asterisk.org/r/344/. If multiple peers are defined with the

matching callbackextension. Since callbackextension creates an outbound
registration with the callbackextension as the Contact address, matching an
incoming request by that (in addition to the host/port) makes a lot of sense.

When Asterisk is used with various third-party libraries (CURL, PostgresSQL,
many others) that have the ability themselves to use OpenSSL, it is possible
for conflicts to arise in how the OpenSSL libraries are initialized and
shutdown. This patch addresses these conflicts by 'wrapping' the important
functions from the OpenSSL libraries in a new shared library that is part
of Asterisk itself, and is loaded in such a way as to ensure that *all*
calls to these functions will be dispatched through the Asterisk wrapper
functions, not the native functions.
This new library is optional, but enabled by default. See the CHANGES file
for documentation on how to disable it.
Along the way, this patch also makes a few other minor changes:
* Changes MODULES_DIR to ASTMODDIR throughout the build system, in order to
more closely match what is used during run-time configuration.
* Corrects some errors in the configure script where AC_CHECK_TOOLS was used
instead of AC_PATH_PROG.
* Adds a new variable for linker flags in the build system (DYLINK), used for
producing true shared libraries (as opposed to the dynamically loadable
modules that the build system produces for 'regular' Asterisk modules).
* Moves the Makefile bits that handle installation and uninstallation of the
main Asterisk binary into main/Makefile from the top-level Makefile.
* Moves a couple of useful preprocessor macros from optional_api.h to
asterisk.h.

In order to better handle RTP sources with strictrtp enabled (which is now default in 10)
using the learning mode to figure out new sources when they change is handled by checking
for a number of consecutive (by sequence number) packets received to an rtp struct
based on a new configurable value called 'probation'. Also, during learning mode instead
of liberally accepting all packets received, we now reject packets until a clear source
has been determined.

This is a bug - or architecture mistake - that has been in Asterisk for a

some other applications. Most channel drivers checks if an extension
exists BEFORE starting a pbx on an inbound call, so most calls will
not depend on this issue.

* Fixed several places where ast_strdupa() were used inside of loops.
(Mostly fixed by refactoring the loop body into its own function.)
* Fixed copy_parkinglot() copying too much from the source parking lot.
Extracted the parking lot configuration settings into struct

* Refactored the features.conf parking lot configuration code to eliminate
redundancy.
* Fixed feature reload to better protect parking lots.
* Fixed parking lot container reference leak in handle_parkedcalls().

There were some bugs in the very ancient version of Berkeley DB that Asterisk
used. Instead of spending the time tracking down the bugs in the Berkeley code
we move to the much better documented SQLite 3.
Conversion of the old astdb happens at runtime by running the included
astdb2sqlite3 utility. The ast_db API with SQLite 3 backend should behave
identically to the old Berkeley backend, but in the future we could offer a
much more robust interface.
We do not include the SQLite 3 library in the source tree, but instead rely
upon the distribution-provided libraries. SQLite is so ubiquitous that this
should not place undue burden on administrators.

The original implementation of this did the merging of all contexts with the
same name in the realtime layer, but that implementation severely breaks
drivers which use the same context name (e.g. iax.conf, type={peer, user}).
Therefore, the implementation needs to do the merging for particular entries
only, based upon what contexts would allow that in the channel driver itself.
This implementation is for chan_sip only, but others could be added in the
future.

Discussion on #asterisk on 2011-01-19:
(02:07:03 PM) boch: i wonder how to cycle all entries in a tree
(02:07:11 PM) leifmadsen: use While()
(02:07:17 PM) leifmadsen: you need to know the tree structure already though
(02:07:36 PM) boch: what you mean?
(02:09:02 PM) leifmadsen: you need to know the structure prior to looping, because you can't just return the structure from the dialplan
(02:09:43 PM) leifmadsen: the only way I can think of doing that is via something like writing the output of: asterisk -rx "database show" to a file, then looping through that to know the structure of the database and check everything
(02:09:59 PM) leifmadsen: but at that point you're better off just using either a relational database or an external script

(02:15:35 PM) leifmadsen: database shows everything
(02:16:22 PM) mateu: i mean something from the dial plan that mimics 'database show <family>'
(02:16:41 PM) leifmadsen: guess no one has found that important enough to program :)
(02:16:52 PM) leifmadsen: at that point you should probably just use a relational database...

Addition of the FrameHook API (AKA AwesomeHooks)
So far all our tools for viewing and manipulating media streams
within Asterisk have been entirely focused on audio. That made
sense then, but is not scalable now. The FrameHook API lets us
tap into and manipulate _ANY_ type of media or signaling passed
on a channel present today or in the future. This tool is a step
in the direction of expanding Asterisk's boundaries and will help
generate some rather interesting applications in the future.
In addition to the FrameHook API, a simple dialplan function
exercising the api has been included as well. This function
is called FRAME_TRACE(). FRAME_TRACE() allows for the internal
ast_frames read and written to a channel to be output. Filters
can be placed on this function to debug only certain types of frames.
This function could be thought of as an internal way of doing
ast_frame packet captures.

improved translation paths for wideband codecs
The problem I'm addressing is that Asterisk's current
method of building the least cost translation paths
between codecs does not take into account sample rate.
For instance, it was possible for siren14 (a 32khz codec),
to contain the a translation path to siren7 (a 16khz
audio codec) that goes through slin at 8khz. In this
case Asterisk takes a 32khz codec, down samples it to
8khz and then up samples it to 16khz which is terrible
regardless if it is computationally less expensive. This
patch now builds translation paths that give priority to
maintaining the best possible sample rate before taking
into consideration computational cost. This patch also
adds cli commands to expose what translation paths are
actually being used.
Changes:
1. Translation paths will never contain a step that changes
the sample rate unless absolutely necessary.
2. When choosing the best codec to make two channels compatible.
Shared codecs with the highest sample rate are given priority.
3. A new cli command to show all translation paths available
for a specific codec 'core show translation paths [codec name]'
has been added.
4. 'core show translation' which displays the translation
matrix now includes the new higher bit audio codecs in the table.
5. 'core show channel [channel name]' now displays the
translation paths if translation is used.

easier upgrading for other files in the near future, though.

From Reviewboard:
CCSS stands for Call Completion Supplementary Services. An admittedly out-of-date
overview of the architecture can be found in the file doc/CCSS_architecture.pdf
in the CCSS branch. Off the top of my head, the big differences between what is
implemented and what is in the document are as follows:
1. We did not end up modifying the Hangup application at all.
2. The document states that a single call completion monitor may be used across
multiple calls to the same device. This proved to not be such a good idea
when implementing protocol-specific monitors, and so we ended up using one
monitor per-device per-call.
3. There are some configuration options which were conceived after the document
was written. These are documented in the ccss.conf.sample that is on this
review request.
For some basic understanding of terminology used throughout this code, see the
ccss.tex document that is on this review.
This implements CCBS and CCNR in several flavors.
First up is a "generic" implementation, which can work over any channel technology
provided that the channel technology can accurately report device state. Call
completion is requested using the dialplan application CallCompletionRequest and can
be canceled using CallCompletionCancel. Device state subscriptions are used in order
to monitor the state of called parties.
Next, there is a SIP-specific implementation of call completion. This method uses the
methods outlined in draft-ietf-bliss-call-completion-06 to implement call completion
using SIP signaling. There are a few things to note here:
* The agent/monitor terminology used throughout Asterisk sometimes is the reverse of
what is defined in the referenced draft.
* Implementation of the draft required support for SIP PUBLISH. I attempted to write
this in a generic-enough fashion such that if someone were to want to write PUBLISH
support for other event packages, such as dialog-state or presence, most of the effort
would be in writing callbacks specific to the event package.
* A subportion of supporting PUBLISH reception was that we had to implement a PIDF
parser. The PIDF support added is a bit minimal. I first wrote a validation
routine to ensure that the PIDF document is formatted properly. The rest of the
PIDF reading is done in-line in the call-completion-specific PUBLISH-handling
code. In other words, while there is PIDF support here, it is not in any state
where it could easily be applied to other event packages as is.
Finally, there are a variety of ISDN-related call completion protocols supported. These
were written by Richard Mudgett, and as such I can't really say much about their
implementation. There are notes in the CHANGES file that indicate the ISDN protocols
over which call completion is supported.

From Review Board:
There are two interrelated changes here.
First, there is the introduction of func_srv. This adds two new read-only
dialplan functions, SRVQUERY and SRVRESULT. They work very similarly to the
ENUMQUERY and ENUMRESULT functions, except that this allows one to query SRV
records instead. In order to facilitate this work, I added a couple of new API
calls to srv.h. ast_srv_get_record_count tells the number of records returned
by an SRV lookup. This number is calculated at the time of the SRV lookup.
ast_srv_get_nth_record allows one to get a numbered SRV record.
Second, there is the modification to chan_sip that allows one to specify a
hostname or IP address (along with a port) to send an outgoing INVITE to when
dialing a SIP peer. This goes hand-in-hand with func_srv. You can query SRV
records and then use the host and port from the results to dial via a specific
host instead of what is configured in sip.conf.

users expect them to work.
'core set debug' and 'core set verbose' can optionally change the
level for a specific filename; however, this is actually for a
specific source file name, not the module that source file is included
in. With examples like chan_sip, chan_iax2, chan_misdn and others
consisting of multiple source files, this will not lead to the
behavior that users expect. If they want to set the debug level for
chan_sip, they want it set for all of chan_sip, and not to have to
also set it for reqresp_parser and other files that comprise the
chan_sip module.
This patch changes this functionality to be module-name based instead
of file-name based.
To make this work, some Makefile modifications were required to ensure
that the AST_MODULE definition is present in each object file produced
for each module as well.

The PITCH_SHIFT function can be used on a channel to independently
modify the pitch of both rx and tx audio streams. Now you can
improve your conference calls by assigning a random pitch effect
to everyone entering a meetme room, or just make your day more
interesting by making your co-workers sound funny. These are just
some of the numerious practical uses for this function. Enjoy!

Fixed incoming calls being matched to MSNs without type-of-number prefix added.
For an incoming ISDN call the dialed.number is incorrectly matched against
the configured MSNs in misdn.conf. The numbers passed to the dialplan
include the configured prefix for the dialed.number_type, whereas the
check against the configured MSNs (to decide if the call is accepted at
all), is executed without the configured prefix.
e.g., dialed.number = 241168020, TON = national, configured national
prefix is "0". (This is the TON which is used by ISDN providers in the
Netherlands.)
In chan_misdn.c:cb_events() in case EVENT_SETUP the call to
misdn_cfg_is_msn_valid() uses the unnormalized number 241168020, but 57
lines later the call to read_config() adds the prefix, and the
dialed.number is now 0241168020, which is then used in the dialplan.
misdn_cfg_is_msn_valid() must use the normalized number, too.
